Waikīkī beach and the Honolulu skyline at golden hour

4-day itinerary

Oʻahu in 4 Days

Four days is enough for Oʻahu if you pick one direction per day and stop trying to see everything. Here is the version that works.

Brisk pace Flexible budget Year-round Updated July 22, 2026

Short Oʻahu trips fail for one reason. People try to do the North Shore, the windward coast, Pearl Harbor and Waikīkī in the same three days and spend most of it on the H-1 and the H-2.

The fix is simple. One direction per day, always leaving before eight. This plan keeps a Waikīkī base throughout because on a four-day trip a hotel change costs a disproportionate amount of your time.

What this week covers

  • Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head in a single well-sequenced day
  • A full windward morning at Lanikai
  • The North Shore loop done properly
  • No accommodation change
Day 01

Arrive, Waikīkī and Diamond Head at sunset

Based in Waikīkī

Land, walk, swim, eat. If your flight lands early enough, take the Diamond Head evening slot rather than fighting the morning crowd.

  1. Afternoon

    HNL to Waikīkī

About 25 minutes by rideshare. Do not rent a car for today or tomorrow, you will only pay to park it.

  2. 4pm

    Swim at Queen’s Surf

Quieter end of Waikīkī with a view back to the crater and easy access to the park.

  3. Sunset

    Beachfront dinner

Eat early. The 5am wake-up tomorrow is jet lag working for you rather than against.
