Privacy policy
We collect an email address when you give us one, a cookie that remembers you unlocked the itineraries, and Google Analytics to count visits. That is the whole story.

What we collect
Your email address
If you unlock an itinerary or subscribe to the newsletter, we store the address you enter, the page or form it came from and the date. We use it to send the weekly email and to understand which content people find worth unlocking. We do not sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers.
The unlock cookie
Unlocking sets one cookie in your browser so the site remembers you and keeps the itineraries open. It contains no personal information, only a flag that says the gate has been passed. It lasts a year and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. Clearing it does not delete your subscription.
Server logs
Our host records standard technical information for every request, including IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is used for security and for keeping the site running.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and how they arrived. It records the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, your approximate location and your device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; your IP is used to derive a rough location and is then discarded.
It also records when you click a link to one of our affiliate partners, along with which page and which position on the page the link was in. That is recorded so we can tell which recommendations are useful. It describes the link, not you: no part of it identifies you or follows you to the partner's site, and we do not receive anything back about what you do once you get there.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_<id>, which distinguish one visitor from another so a returning reader is
not counted twice. They last up to two years and contain a random identifier rather than
anything that names you.
We do not use Google Analytics to build advertising profiles, and we have not enabled Google Signals or ads personalisation. You can opt out entirely by blocking cookies for this site, by using any browser or extension that blocks analytics, or by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
Google processes this data as our provider and may transfer it outside your country, including to the United States. Their handling is covered by the Google privacy policy.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you follow one, the destination site may set its own cookie to attribute a booking to us. That happens on their domain under their privacy policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
Who processes data for us
We use third parties to run the site, measure traffic and send email: Netlify hosts the site, Google provides analytics, and an email service provider handles the newsletter. They process data on our instructions only.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in its footer. You can also ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it or delete it entirely, by emailing aloha@hawaiitravelers.com. Depending on where you live, GDPR or CCPA may give you additional rights, and we apply the same process to everyone regardless.
Retention
We keep subscriber addresses until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host and then discarded.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we will remove the address.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after that means you accept the revised policy.
